West Side

The Fall Festival is set on 175 acres that was once the home of the West Side Lumber Company and mill site for one of the last fully operational narrow gauge logging operations in the West. The property is now owned and operated by the Tuolumne band of Me-Wuk Indians, whose ancestors were the original stewards of this magical oak woodland that offers an expanse of natural beauty and wild charisma. Evidence of the distinct layers of West Sides rich cultural history are embedded into the landscape at every turn. There are many hiking and bicycling trails that offer wildlife viewing in the riparian areas of Turnback creek, wind up and around ancient, rusty relics, and crest the hilltop to present vistas of the Tuolumne River canyon and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Like the other half of a beating heart, the quiet and shady town Tuolumne lies adjacent to West Side with a nice park, ball diamond, library, swimming pool, and Veterans Memorial Hall just a short walk away.
