Description: | From 80th Annual Pioneer Days Website: What we know as Pioneer Days began in 1937. In 1938 the celebration was called Pioneer May Day, and in 1940 a parade was added. In 1941 the Chamber of Commerce took it over and changed the date to April. Rationing during World War II postponed further yearly events until 1946 when the celebration was once again held in May. In 1948, the Pioneer Day events moved permanently to October and Western days were adopted as the theme. Pioneer Days is celebrated the third full weekend of October with a PARADE on Saturday at 10 a.m. downtown, Judge & Sheriff and Little Miss & Master contests, Outhouse Races, Firefighters Pancake Breakfast, BBQs, and other festive events. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Luckie Park features a carnival, vendors, food and community booths, plus music, beer garden, arm wrestling tournament, pet parade, and more. Enjoy down-home family fun!
