Description: The Long Beach Bayou Festival is back with its Mardi Gras atmosphere, Cajun & Creole food delicacies and top notch music in a new location this year – the Queen Mary Events Park (also known as the Harry Bridges Memorial Park), 1126 Queens Highway, Long Beach, CA on Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24, 2018. Hours are 11:00 am - 9:00 pm on Saturday and 11:00 am - 7:00 pm on Sunday. Info and tickets: (***) ***-****, www.********.***.

Known for superior artists in Blues, Zydeco, R&B, Jazz and Soul, the festival features simultaneous stages of music and has expanded activities for kids and as always the large shaded wooden dance floor and easy dance instruction for all ages will be featured.

Popular festival traditions continue with a colorful costumed Mardi Gras parade led each day by the New Orleans Traditional Jazz Band, and a delectable French Quarter marketplace with crawfish etouffee, jambalaya, and other Cajun delights. The popular crawfish and watermelon eating contests also return this year.

Children of all ages appreciate the Kids Corner featuring storytelling, sing-a-longs, arts and crafts, magic, pony rides, and mask making for the Mardi Gras Parade. There are also games and activities for older kids.

Of course, music is the prominent feature of the Bayou Festival. The New Orleans stage features the dazzling eighteen-year old Los Angeles guitar phenomenon, Ray Goren with a sizzling mastery of his Fender. He has played the Chicago and Monterey Blues Festivals, and Detroit Jazz Festival among others. In 2011, the Chicago Tribune said, "No one rattles the place like....Ray Goren...He plays electric guitar -and sings - with a fluency, ease and depth of expression that defy easy explanation."

Another extraordinary addition is South Side Slim, who was featured in the Paul McCartney music video, "Early Days" with other authentic bluesmen jamming with Sir Paul. He's recently played both the Pocono and North Atlantic Blues Festivals.

The soulful blues stylings of Marguaret Love & the Lovetts are a great inclusion this year. Having performed with artists such as Percy Mayfield and Earth, Wind & Fire, Marguaret received the Living Legend Award from Los Angeles Mayor, Eric Garcetti.

The McKee Brothers have been playing jazz/blues music their entire lives. Described as gritty funk and soul, they have often been featured at the Doheny Blues Festival.

Corney Mims, regarded as one of L.A.'s truly "elite" bass players and band leaders, has played with the likes of Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Natalie Cole, Snoop Dogg, George Michael & many more. Corny brings his band the Knowitallz to the stage.

For Southern Soul Blues performed with grit, wit and sartorial splendor, there is only one man to go to: Los Angeles-by-way-of-Louisiana singer Sonny Green.

Grammy nominated artist Victor Orlando and his band, the Fun-Ja-La All Stars are joining the Bayou Festival for the first time this year and The Oreo Divas have the wow factor with their sizzling Motown Tribute, and extraordinary R&B/jazz/blues/gospel vocals.

By popular demand, Jeffery Broussard & the Creole Cowboys return to the Cajun/Zydeco Stage. Broussard's accordion and vocals brought a new style of Creole music to the forefront. JoJo Reed is also a top draw in Zydeco music, wowing fans regularly at local festivals and events.

Other artists include crowd-pleasing zydeco band, T-Broussard and the Zydeco Steppers who tour all around the country performing various festivals such as Tennessee Beale St, Alabama Blues Festival and others. The Acadien Cajun Band takes the classic sound one step further bringing a new sense of originality to the classic genre.

Known for bringing their spirit and rhythm of the bayou wherever they go, Crawdaddio has performed at Downtown Disney in Anaheim. Known to "always get the crowd going," every night is Mardi Gras when Crawdaddio is in town.
