Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, which comes to the Anaheim Convention Center on August 27-30, will showcase a wide variety of incredible Star Wars artists from across the galaxy at the Celebration Art Show. To qualify for the Art Show, artists must have previously created Star Wars artwork for Lucasfilm, Disney or for a Lucasfilm licensee.
The Star Wars Celebration Art Show is open to official artists of Lucasfilm, Disney and of the companies licensees only. If you have created official work for Lucasfilm, Disney, or one of their licensees, you will be able to submit your work to be considered for the juried selection of the Celebration Art Show.
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim Art Show Guidelines
For each Star Wars Celebration we receive far more submissions from qualified artists than we are able to include in the Art Show. Because of this, we have instituted a two-step selection process, detailed below. All artists must go through this process, even if they have participated in previous Celebration Art Shows. Participation in previous shows is not a guarantee of being accepted to this years show, and no artists from previous Celebrations are automatically accepted.
In order to be eligible to participate in the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim Art Show, you must have previously created Star Wars art for Lucasfilm, Disney or an official Lucasfilm licensee. Officially licensed art includes art for sketch cards, comics, posters, and other art that was commissioned by an official Lucasfilm licensee. Fan art and personal commissions do not count as officially licensed art, and will not be accepted for consideration. There will be no exceptions to this requirement.
Submissions will be accepted between now and February 28th, 2020. We will not accept submissions after February 28th, 2020. Please submit 3-5 examples of your artwork along with a brief summary of your experience with creating artwork for Lucasfilm and its licensees. If you have a link to an online portfolio of your artwork, please submit that as well. Send your submission to CelebrationArtShow@********.***.
We will evaluate all submissions we receive and select the ones that will be invited to move forward to the next round. We will notify everyone if they have been selected on or before March 20th, 2020.
Artists who are selected to move to the next round will be asked to submit one or two original concepts for their piece for the Art Show, which will be due on April 17th, 2020. Concepts will be evaluated by a team of artistic talent at Lucasfilm who will not know which piece was submitted by which artist. Lucasfilm will notify everyone if their art concept has been selected or not by May 8th, 2020.
Final art, to be used in show promotions and in the commemorative guide, will be due June 24th, 2020. Artists headshots and updated bios will be due at this time as well.
